KiwiCo Hydraulic Claw

A few months ago I experimented with the KiwiCo hydraulic claw. It was a really fun and easy way to learn about hydraulics and how they’re helpful in your daily life. A hydraulic system is when fluids are pressurized to power engines. They are used all over the world in more places than you know.

The hydraulic claw I built with the parts included in the kit was used to hold up a cup with a weight in it. It was really quick to build and you just had to follow the steps in the kit. The project was successful but there were a few things that made the claw harder to build and use.

As you can see in the video, the claw wouldn’t stand up on the given flat surface and it kept falling over which made it harder to use. An improvement to take into account is to make a sturdier base and platform so the claw won’t move.

Other than that, it was a great project, and worked without fault multiple times.
