Don’t you love cozying up in a theater with your popcorn, drinks, and friends, ready to watch that movie you have been waiting to watch for months? The huge screen, the perfect quality, the loud sounds, comfy seats, and just the joy of being able to watch that long-awaited movie makes the theater experience complete. But do you know how you are able to watch those films? You guessed it, a projector!

A projector is an object that shines rays of light that portray a film or show onto a screen. It’s how we are able to watch shows and movies on big screens without using an actual TV. But how do they actually work?

Projectors create images by shining very bright lights through a small lens onto a screen. These lights go through a small LCD screen (liquid-crystal display screen), which is a flat panel display that uses liquid crystals (objects that do not emit light from them directly, instead using reflectors and backlights to produce images). It’s used for the colors to be projected properly.

The light source is then split into three colors, blue, green, and red. These color then go through the proper color LCD panels. After the three colors pass through these panels, they are combined together and projected onto the screen.

Do you want to try and build a projector? Well lucky for you I have found another MEL Science kit that teaches you how to build a mini projector and use it with your phone!

Here is the link to the projector.

Here are a few examples of the projector built from this kit! Have fun building and thanks for reading!
